Design and features
There are many buttons on the front of the fluffy multipot. They light up when you select a setting and all the buttons are easy to read. My mother was jealous of the different settings available. Some of the most useful that I have used and will use were the settings for poultry, standard pressure cooking, roasting and soup/broth. Others are available: meat/stew, beans/chili, rice, multigrains, porridge, slow cooking, steam, eggs, cakes and yogurt. That’s A LOT of tweaking.
There is a companion app for the recipes that was really helpful. It needs to be updated with mealthy 2.0 (some recipes don’t currently use the different settings), but it was still very useful. The included cookbook also contained some decent recipes.
Overall, the design and the available features are almost overwhelming for a new user, but I’m not complaining. It’s great to be able to do what I want while cooking.
Configuration
The installation was easy. Since the pressure valve is automatic, I didn’t have to adjust anything there. I just popped the ingredients into the pan, put the lid on, pressed a button and set the cooking time.
There is a detachable cable that is easy to plug in, thick and well made. I wish it was a little longer, but it’s no shorter than the average kitchen appliance. They mention that you should not connect it to an outlet under the device.
Performance
The first thing I did was try the simplest recipe I could find. It was chicken tacos with salsa. All I had to do was throw in the chicken, give it some salsa and add some salt. I also added a condiment for the tacos just because I like the taste. I followed the instructions in the application and closed the lid, used the manual setting for 15 minutes and dropped it. It took about 10 minutes to put the pressure on, then another 15 minutes to boil. The part that confused me was the release of the imprint. It’s more automated in version 2.0, it seems. The chicken was easy to separate and turn into tacos. It was very, very easy to do and it was something I would do.
Then I decided to do something off the overcome track. I don’t have a saucepan at hand, but I wanted to make tomato soup with tortellini. I decided to try using the saucepan setting to heat the soup, added to the tortellini with cheese and then cooked under pressure on the soup setting for a few minutes. The act of pressurizing the multi-pot did most of the cooking in this matter. It turned out really well!
The third thing I made was teriyaki chicken wings. This was another recipe from the application. It took a little more effort. I combined a few ingredients together and added the chicken, then I cooked it under pressure on the poultry socket. After that, I removed the chicken and added cornstarch to the liquid leftovers from the pan and set it to sauté. Then I added the chicken again and after that I warmed up again and it was done. The chicken fell off the tender bone. I also liked this recipe.
I was really glad that I used the included silicone gloves because the steam from the device is quite hot. Soup ladle, rice spoon and measuring cup were a great advantage. I didn’t have my biggest ladle or my measuring cups handy (you can see how much I cook) and it’s great to be able to hold the measuring cup with the pan at all times. All items and accessories are delivered in the jar with the lid for storage.
The cleaning was a breeze. The stainless steel pot is not stained yet, which is better than my last stainless steel item. I was surprised that things didn’t stick to the ground either; especially the chicken wings.
Final considerations
Overall, I think the Mealthy Multipot 2.0 is a great product at a good price. Using the companion app, I prepared meals that I would never have tried before, and it was so simple and easy to use. This is a product that I would definitely recommend seeing.
