Reviews-A phone is only as good as its battery, which is why there are so many third-party battery solutions. The trick is that they only work if you have all the parts with you. Xvida has a complete power system, including solutions for the car, office and wall mounting, and they sent their wireless magnetic cover and portable battery for review.
What is it?
The wireless magnetic cover and the laptop are part of the Xvida system for easy power supply and assembly. With the Qi standard and the coupled magnets and the integrated plates, the various components connect and align as if by magic.
Structure and functions
The cover wraps the phone beautifully, with covers for all buttons and good access to the silent switch, speakers, microphone and power port. There is a prominent lip that protects the screen without restricting access to the sides.
The most visual feature is the way you have granted objective access. There are individual cutouts for each of the three lenses, as well as the flash and the sensor. There are beautiful microfiber inserts to protect your phone from the cover itself.
The Battery shares the aesthetics of the stealth and protective design and also has the ribs that make it easy to grip. A button with 5 LEDs allows you to see the battery status at a glance.
At the bottom are the USB-C (input) and USB -A (output) ports.
Functionally, the main feature is clearly the magnetic attraction between the two, which helps them to contract. At the bottom of the battery you can see the rectangular shape that corresponds to the lid, with a texture that prevents it from moving. Each cover serves to center the battery on the circuit of that particular phone so that you cannot miss it.
Configuration
To install the cover, slide the upper left corner of your phone into the cover and slide the phone into the other 3 corners. The cover is soft enough but stiff enough for a secure fit.
Connect the included USB-C cable to your phone and the USB-A side to the source with at least 2 A of current to get the fastest charge. Allow the battery to fully charge before use.
You can check the battery status by pressing the button. There are 4 blue LEDs each representing a fourth charge and a 5th green LED indicating that the battery is full or powered, regardless of the connected device.
To charge your phone, place the battery near the back of your phone and you will feel the magnets place it in the correct position. Press and hold to start powered. You will feel the haptic hum of your phone when it is installed. You can always end the power supply with the same process or remove the battery.
Power
Let’s discuss the cover first. I’m a Fan. This is a flat blanket that never feels slippery and is not so practical that it causes problems. The ribs on the sides offer just the right traction in the hand.
The material offers good protection and my phone survived the few falls that occurred during this review without incident.
I really like the camera section, because the individual cutouts for each lens make it easy to clean your lenses. They are flush with the cover and look cool, while the phone is perfectly flat on the back when placed on a flat surface.
It takes about 3 hours to charge the battery from a 2a charger when it is empty. Not a big problem if you plug it in overnight. It is easy to use with the magnet and stays in place while you are using the phone.
Likewise, it was easy to tilt the battery on the back and charge my AirPods pros in their wireless cover. If you don’t want to charge wirelessly, you can do so via the USB-A port on the battery.
Overall, everything works as it should. There was only one problem that I had and that was the battery location on the iPhone 11 Pro. It perfectly matches the phone’s power supply, but the size of the battery causes the lowest lens of the phone to be hidden. This is not a decisive factor, because it is easy to remove the battery to take a photo, but you need to know about it.
Final Thoughts
As I mentioned at the beginning, having all the parts of the system with you is the key to a working solution. Xvida’s cover is a solid performer that I would recommend to everyone for general protection and daily use. The battery works and is small and light enough to fit comfortably in a back pocket, so it doesn’t require a lot of planning, even if you are traveling very light.
